Strange Affairs on the CBC

There's a show late morning on CBC about Quebecois sound artists. Next week their talking with Pirate Jenny (I believe she makes pirate radio). I didn't know the CBC did interesting things on weekday mornings. It's pleasing but slightly disparaging...who are they targeting this at? Or are you just sticking it on the air waves not because you want to expose Quebecois sound artists to anyone but because you need to fill out your timetable. All morning there has been vaguely interesting, vaguely hip content on CBC radio One (740 in Edmonton). Couple that with their acquisition of Dr Who on tv and you start to wonder. CBC, what are you doing? Also...I think perhaps this constitutes as too much time at home.

Applied Truth

"...to actually be funny, you have to tell the truth. That's got to be the most terrifying thing a person can do." - Chandra West

" you said "true meaning would be dying with you", and though I wanted to, I did not smile." - The Weakerthans

"no propagandist can hide the truth that an image shows." - Mark Abley

"Truth: 1 That which is in accordance with the fact or facts...3 That which is true, real or actual in a general or abstract sense; reality" - Gage Canadian Dictionary 1973

You are being broadcast.

Imagine if I had erectile difficulty or some other such embarassing predicament. I could talk about it on here at length. I could discuss those numerous occassions when "Red Shoe Diaries" comes on and well that's all that's coming on. That would be awkward. There are these lines that well are there drawn invisibly clear in the sand boxing off those things you should subject other people to and those things you shouldn't. Now I'm not going to bore you with examples of less than exemplary displays of discretion (house of commons, anyone?) but well yeah...That was kind of my point. We should just try to remember that other people are watching (wether they like it or not). That being said my problem is not ED but rather malaise brought on by lack of people...yep that's it. Suggested cures are welcomed.

*

It's different but...it feels alright. Walking down these streets I've walked before. The sky is distinctly empty of stars but that's alright. There must be a cost for having this much. Cities pay in stars. For that I get wide-ranging live music, diverse radio stations, movies of all stripes, festivals, live theatre and the people. All 900 000+ people. Looking up at the faint twinkles that can be seen I feel at home and...it feels alright.
